RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

2 packages of crescent roll dough ( most all are plant-based)

1 block of cheese ( I’m using a plant-based cheese for this. It’s called Smoked Gouda by follow your heart)

bunch of rosemary

bunch of basil

bunch of sage

DIRECTIONS

Preheat Oven to 350

You can choose to either start with the dough as a triangle or a square. Either way you will place a little bit of cheese in the middle and roll it up and place on parchment paper on cookie sheet. For my method I placed the cheese inside a square, pinched it and twisted the top. This makes a cute design when it bakes.

Place each dough ball next to each other and place them in the shape of a tree. Starting with one on top, two below, three below that, etc. Once you have the desired size you can add two again at the bottom for the tree stump. I outlined a tree shape in pencil on the parchment paper before I started to help me get the shape right.

Bake for about 24 minutes. Once finished brush with melted butter. Gently lift and place on platter or serving board. If it slides off then remove the parchment paper. If not, just use the parchment paper as well.

Cut tomatoes and add them as ornaments on the tree, and chop fresh basil and rosemary to garnish. You can also use fresh basil and rosemary to decorate the plate with as well as sage leaves. Anything fresh looks yummy and adds color.

They will pull apart easily to serve! ENJOY!

DECOR TIP: I love decorating with things like tiny bells and velvet ribbon for the holidays! Consider adding those to your display for an extra special touch!
