INSPIRATION

I originally knew I wanted this bathroom to have white walls. I love the crisp contract of the back against the subway tile and white trim. I wanted it to look dramatic yet sophisticated. Since I love marble I ended up going with a black built in sink with polished cararra marble on top. I love brass and incorporated that into the sink and shower faucets with Delta faucets. When we built our home this was always going to be the guest bath. When I found out Ava was going to join our family I found it ironic that I had painted the linen closet door a pale pink long before I knew I’d have a girl Loved how that was meant to be! A little bit of shiplap completes the look because let’s be honest. Who doesn’t love a little shiplap at home. I guess I love a modern farmhouse but with some classic details!

Ava will use this as her bathroom but guests use it too when they come. Here are a few things I do to keep it useful and friendly for both parties involved.

  1. Use baskets that close to hide towels, washcloths, any item you will quickly need for white bathing baby but it’s still hidden i someone else uses the bathroom. I keep a basket on the floor tucked up agains the wall and the tub. Works great and it’s easy for me to grab a clean towel form there.

  2. Keep a toy/bath organizer in the tub so you can easily throw all toys and shampoo etc in there once done

  3. Keep a basket on the vanity with little glass containers that have cotton balls, q tips, extra soap, toothbrush etc. All the items a guest would need.

  4. Always have a candle ( make sure to keep a little box of matches handy) So your guest can light a candle and your bathroom can instantly become an oasis.

  5. Ensure you have bath hooks and places to set a towel so guests can neatly hang their towel behind the door, or next to the shower, and not have to worry about taking babies space.

  6. Get used to putting all of babies essential items in one of your vanity drawers. ( Cream, lotion, hairbrush, toothbrush, etc. This way the countertop is not cluttered and looks polished.

  7. Do decorate some! I added a beautiful little painting my mother inn law gave me and the Letter A to go in the corner of her vanity. There are also little perfume bottles that I placed on a tiny tray.

  8. It’s always a good idea to have fresh flowers. Place them in a glass jar for an instant wow factor in your bathroom.

SUBWAY TILE

So I know it’s been done over and over again, but I still do love a beautiful clean subway tile. I also really wanted it to go all the way to the ceiling. So Jared took his time and laid the beautiful tile for what would now be our little girls bathroom. So fun! Look at the picture below we took while construction was in progress.

PAINT

Paint Color

When we built our home I searched on pinterest for HOURS trying to decide on paint colors and what was best. I eded up going with some of the top colors rated by interior designers and I can say I’m so happy I did. The black color we have is perfect It’s not too dark and almost a deep deep navy. The trim is a crisp but soft white and I love it so much too!

Black door and wall color: Sherwin Williams Black Magic

Shiplap color: Benjamin Moore Simply White in flat

Trim Color: Benjamin Moore Chantilly lace in eggshell.

SHOWER CURTAINS

Something I really wanted was really long shower curtains. It’s very difficult to find them so I ended up doing a little trick that worked out perfectly. I used regular curtains! That’s right! I have 10 foot ceilings and we hung the bar about 9 feet up and I ordered 9 foot curtains. I lined the back with a shower liner and they have worked perfectly! If you’re looking for shower curtains and don’t love the look, see if curtains do the trick! I wanted something sheer and light so that’s what I used!

HANDLES

HANDLES

One of my favorite details in our whole home are the beautiful handles I ordered from England. They were custom fit to our doors and I absolutely love them!
